Museum at FIT Collaboration

Sensorial Food and Fashion Experience

We created a dining experience with The Museum at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in New York City based on their “Food and Fashion” exhibit. For the event we had a discussion with the co-curators Melissa Marra-Alvarez and Elizabeth Way on the coincidences between food and fashion that included tasting dishes inspired by objects featured in the exhibition. Each bite ‘tasted’ like a garment’s texture, color, material or emotion. Menus were created that featured flavor palates and color palettes as one.

The table decor was created by decoupaging vintage plates with food and fashion images collaged together for a surrealist style. Table linens were naturally dyed using beets, annatto seeds and cabbage. Each guest was given the menu and a recipe based off of a Chanel garment.
